Setting How Database Objects Display in Enterprise Explorer

You can determine how database objects display under their connection profile through Enterprise Explorer context-menu options and/or Connectivity and Enterprise Explorer preference settings.

Prerequisites

Open the Database Development perspective and connect to your database server(s) through a connection profile.

You can indicate how all database objects display for a connection profile through the Connectivity and Enterprise Explorer preference settings. By default, Sybase WorkSpace groups 25 database objects alphabetically in folders with the owner name appearing in parentheses next to the object name. Through the Enterprise Explorer context menu, for a connection profile or an individual database, you can choose to group objects by schema and/or display the owner name next to the database object. Subgroup preferences indicate if database objects are grouped into folders and how that folder structure looks.

Preference settings take precedence and override any settings you change to connection profiles and specific databases. Changes to connection profile settings override any changes you make to individual databases.

  1. (Optional) Change Subgroup preferences to indicate the database object folder structure.

By default, WorkSpace groups database objects in folders in groups of 25. The folder name denotes the name of the first database object in the folder and the last, in alphabetical order.

For example: [contacts ... sales orders].
  2. (Optional) Change Database Connection Profile preferences to indicate how all connection profiles display database objects.

By default, WorkSpace displays the owner name next to the database object (Show Owner).

  3. Right-click a connection profile or specific database and select Show Owner and/or Show Schema.
