Inserting Predefined SQL Code Using a Template

Select a template to enter predefined SQL code into a SQL file or procedural object at the desired location.

Templates allow you to enter predefined SQL code into your procedural object at the desired location. You can also enter predefined values for variables in the template so that all instances of the variable are updated at the same time when a change is made to any one instance.
  1. In the editor, position the cursor where you want to insert a template.
  2. Open Content Assist.

The default key sequence is Ctrl+Space.

Templates appear in the options list with other syntax proposals.

  3. Select and double-click the template you want to insert.

You can also navigate the Content-Assist list using the up or down arrow key until you find the template. If the template contains variables, the editor enters Template Edit mode.

  4. (Optional) Enter values for all variable placeholders.
    1. Press Tab to move the cursor to the next unique variable, or Shift+Tab to move the cursor backward to the previous unique variable.
    2. Exit Template Edit mode by pressing Esc or Enter.
