Editing a Replication Server Function String

Edit a Replication Server function string using SQL Scrapbook.

  1. Open Enterprise Explorer, and connect to your Replication Server.
  2. Expand the view for your Replication Server connection profile, select a primary database containing the function string, and expand the Function-String Classes folder.
  3. Expand the folder for the function-string class containing your function string, and expand the Function Strings folder.
  4. Right-click the function string you want to edit, and select Edit from the context menu.

    The SQL for this function string appears in SQL Scrapbook

  5. Edit the function string.
    Note: You cannot edit a system object. If this function string is a system object, you can view its contents in SQL Scrapbook but you cannot save the changes.
  6. Right-click in content window of SQL Scrapbook, and choose the appropriate context-menu option for saving.

    Save as Template Select this option to save the SQL as a template that can be reinserted in future editor sessions. In the New Template wizard:
    • Specify a name and context for the template.
    • Optionally specify a template description.
    • In the Pattern field, manually edit the template definition. Click Insert Variable to generate a list of variables, and select one to insert at the cursor position.
    When you are finished, click OK to save the new template.
    Save As Specify project information and a file name in the Save As dialog.
    Save to Server Select this option to save the artifact to the Replication Server on which it currently resides.
