Creating a Procedural object

Procedural objects standardize actions performed by more than one application program.

When you create a procedural object, you enter the basic information about the SQL object, such as name, SQL dialect type, and comments. As you complete this information, the wizard dynamically generates the appropriate SQL code and displays it in the Preview window. Once you click Finish, the end result is a procedural object definition skeleton, which you can then edit.

  1. From the WorkSpace main menu, select File > New > Database Schema Object.

The New Schema Object dialog appears.

  2. From the Database server type downdown, select the appropriate database.
  3. From the Connection profile name dropdown, select a connection profile, or click Create to create a new one.
  4. From the Database name dropdown, select the database for which you want to create the procedural object.
  5. In the Wizards box, select the type of procedural object you want to create.

    The associated wizard appears.
