Executing a SQL Statement

Execute a SQL statement from an editor.

Prerequisites 

Be sure the data server for which you are executing a SQL statement is running, and you created and established a connection to the data server. Open the SQL file or procedural object in the appropriate editor.

  1. Highlight the SQL statement or statements you want to execute.

    For a SQL file, highlight the statement in the SQL Editor. For a stored procedure, highlight the statement in the Source tab of the Stored Procedure Editor. For other procedural objects, open them in their associated editor's Source page.

  2. Execute one, multiple, or all SQL statements.
    To Do this
    Execute one or more SQL statements HIghtlight the statements and choose Execute Selected Text.
    Execute all statements Choose Execute All.

    Execution status and and results appear in the SQL Results view.
