Configuring a Delimited File Transform

Specify basic parameters for the delimited file transform for a nonrelational data source.

Prerequisites

Before starting this procedure, you must already have selected the Transform tab in the Input Source Properties dialog, clicked Define, and selected From Delimited File to Result Set in the Transform Definition Wizard.

Start this task on the Transform Definition Delimited File to Result Set Transform page.

  1. Fill in the fields as follows:
    Field Description
Field Delimiter Identify the delimiter that separates fields in the file. WorkSpace Data Federation can process files whose data is separated by commas (,), vertical pipes (|), and tabs.
Use first row of data as column names Check this box to treat the first row of data in the file as the names of the columns. If this box is checked, WorkSpace skips the first row when converting the file to a result set.
  2. Click Next. The Column Definitions page appears. If you selected Use first row of data as column names on the previous page, the names of the columns will already be filled in for you.
  3. (Optional) Add parameters, Delete parameters, or change the order of the parameters in the displayed table (Move Up, Move Down).
  4. Edit the column properties as needed. The fields that define the columns are described elsewhere.
  5. Click Finish to save your changes and close the wizard.
