The central editing pane in the Data Federation perspective is occupied by the view model editor or the metadata model editor.
The view model editor lets you create, manipulate, and deploy view models in the current project.
The buttons in the palette, at the left side of the editing pane, let you add operators to the model and connect them together. The palette collapses to provide more screen space for editing. Click the small arrowhead at the top of the column to expand or collapse the palette.
The metadata model editor lets you import, create, manipulate and deploy metadata (schema) models in the current project.
If you open multiple view models or metadata models within a project, you’ll see a tab for each open model above the editing pane, as shown here. An asterisk indicates that the model has been modified since it was saved.
