Auditing and Compliance

Data Federation’s audit logging capabilities can help ensure the security of your customer information and other data while at the same time enabling you to comply with legal requirements for internal/external control systems.

Administrators can use log4j, an open source logging package, to configure logging of any events that access, execute, or modify items that have been provisioned into or created in the data catalog—file accesses, or the execution or creation of database operations or data services, for example. Events can be logged to files, external databases, or both. You can even issue alerts (such as e-mails) to notify administrators when particularly sensitive items are accessed. Events logged to databases can be captured with business intelligence (BI) reporting tools (such as Crystal Reports and BusinessObjects) and then used to generate documentation that satisfies auditing requirements.
