Troubleshooting Device Application Code Generation

This topic provides troubleshooting tips for problems with generating device application code in the Device Application Designer.

Start the BlackBerry MDS

If you are unable to deploy the device application to the BlackBerry Simulaltor, verify that the BlackBerry Simulator MDS is running. If it is not running:

  1. Click on any page in the Device Application Designer (except the Introduction page), and select Generate Device Application Designer.
  2. In the Generate Device Application Designer wizard, click Start MDS.

Check the path environment variable

If you are unable to deploy the device application to the BlackBerry Simulator:

  1. Veriify that there is not a % symbol in the path environment variable.

For example, you should not have a path environment variable such as %Java_Home% or %SystemRoot%. If you do have % in your path environment variable, replace them with the full path.

  2. Add the full path for JDK\bin to the path environment variable.
Note: You can also add the JDK path in the Advanced options of the Generate Device Application wizard.

Connection Profile Appears When Generating Code

Problem: Device application code does not generate. The connection profile appears.

Workaround: Device applications require a login. If you are not using a login screen with the user name and password in the flow design and you are using a connection profile without a password entered, when you generate the device application code, the connection profile appears. Enter the password and click OK.
