Assigning Rule Validation to the Edit Box

Validate user input on the device application by assigning validation rules to the Edit Box control.

1. In the Device Application Designer, select Screen Design > Palette > Controls > Edit Box .
2. Drag and drop the Edit Box onto the screen display.
3. In the Screen Design Palette, expand the Validation folder.
4. Drag and drop Rule Validation onto the Edit Box.
5. Configure the validation rule and click OK.

• Creating Numerical Rule Validation
  Use the Numerical Rule dialog to set the numerical validation rule for the edit box control.
• Creating String Rule Validation
  In the String Rule Validation dialog, set the string validation rule for the edit box.
• Creating DateTime Rule Validation
  In the Calendar Rule dialog, set validation rules for calendar (date/time) type data.
• Editing a Rule Validation
  Use the Properties view to edit the rule validation for a control.
• Removing a Rule Validation
  Use the Properties view to remove rule validations from a control.
