Filter by Settings and Data Synchronization

Filter by is defined during MBO development, and used during synchronization of a device application that allows a subset of data to be returned to the device based on the value specified as the filter.

You can set Filter by in the Properties view, on either the Parameters tab (filtering a client parameter), or the Attributes Mapping tab (filtering attributes) . Although you can define MBO synchronization behavior in either of these places, it is important to understand their differences:

• Configuring Data Synchronization by Filtering a Client Parameter
  Filtering by a client parameter determines synchronization behavior and affects caching of Enterprise Information System (EIS) information on Unwired Server when a mobile business object (MBO) is accessed by a device application.
• Configuring Data Synchronization by Filtering Attributes
  Filtering by a mapped attribute does not affect the Enterprise Information System (EIS) interaction with Unwired Server. Instead it restricts the rows transferred from the Consolidated database (Cdb) to the client database to match values the client provides (or retrieved from the default value or personalization key value when the client does not provide a value).
