Defining a Replication Server Subscription

Defining a subscription adds the subscription to the Replication Server system tables but does not materialize or activate the subscription. Use the Define Subscription wizard to create a subscription with bulk materialization.

Prerequisites

Make sure the Replication Server is running. Create and establish a connection to the server.

  1. In Enterprise Explorer, expand the view for your Replication Server connection profile, and expand a database for which to define the subscription.
  2. Right-click the Subscriptions folder, and select Define Subscription.
  3. Specify the subscription name and replicate data location.
    Field Description
Subscription Name Enter a subscription name.
Replicate Data Location Displays the location of your replicate Replication Server and replicate database.
Artifact Settings Select an artifact type and a corresponding artifact:
    • Table replication definition

    • Function replication definition

    • Database replication definition

    • Publication

  4. Click Next, and specify settings for materialization, table truncation, and new articles.
    Field Description
Subscribe to Truncate Table Enable replication of the truncate table command to the subscribing replicate database.
For New Articles (Publication artifacts only) Specify if Replication Server checks the subscription against its corresponding publication and creates subscriptions against unused articles.
  5. Click Finish.
