Planning Your Installation

Before you install or upgrade, prepare your environment.

Note: In this document, Linux is treated as a UNIX platform, unless the specific context requires a distinction.

Read the Replication Server Options 15.7.1 SP200 Release Bulletin.
Obtain a license.

Note: If you are using served licenses, you must install the SySAM license server version 2.1 or later.
Make sure your system meets all requirements for your installation scenario and planned use.
Verify that you can uncompress or decompress installation files on your platform.

On UNIX:

.zip files Use the unzip command.

.tgz files Use gzip or GNU Tar

On Windows:

Make sure that the Winrar or Winzip utility is installed on your machine to decompress files during the installation process.
Complete the Installation and Setup Worksheet.

SAP Replication Server Options Release Bulletin
The release bulletin contains current information about specific requirements of Replication Agent.
Licensing
Replication Agent can be installed as part of SAP® Replication Server® Options (RSO), SAP® Replication Server®, heterogeneous edition (RSHE), or real-time loading edition (RTLE) installation. Licensing depends on which product you install.
System Requirements
Installing Replication Agent requires adequate disk space and RAM on the Replication Agent host machine. The Replication Agent host also requires network connectivity to the primary database and the Replication Server, and local access to the log devices.

Before installing Replication Agent, review the installation requirements.
Team Skill Requirements
To successfully install and configure a replication environment using Replication Agent, you need team members with specific skills.
