Changing the Replication Agent state

The state of a Replication Agent instance indicates its current operational condition, and determines which administrative tasks you can perform.

Generally, there are only two reasons to change the state of a Replication Agent instance:

Changing from Replicating state to Admin state

To change the state of the Replication Agent instance from Replicating to Admin, you can use either the quiesce or suspend command. See “Stopping replication in the Replication Agent”.

See the Replication Agent Reference Manual for more detailed information about the quiesce and suspend commands.

Changing from Admin state to Replicating state

To change the state of the Replication Agent instance from Admin to Replicating, you can use the resume command. See “Starting replication in the Replication Agent”.

See the Replication Agent Reference Manual for more detailed information about the resume command.
