This guide describes how to install and configure the DB2 UDB Options for CICS and for IMS. It includes planning considerations, installation instructions, configuration instructions, and troubleshooting information.
These specific guidelines and step-by-step instructions are intended for those who install, configure, and maintain Sybase mainframe client/server components on an IBM z/Series mainframe. This guide is for anyone who performs tasks, for example:
CICS system programmer
DB2 database administrator
DirectConnect for z/OS Option administrator
This guide assumes you have a working knowledge of system administration for your environment. For a z/OS-CICS environment, for example, you should be familiar with z/OS and CICS system administrative procedures, such as defining CICS resources and SNA definitions.
This guide consists of five sections: planning, installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and appendix. The first four sections contain chapters that describe sets of tasks. The last section contains useful reference information.
The DB2 UDB Options for CICS and IMS require the Server Option for CICS and the Server Option for IMS and MVS to be installed. Therefore, these Server Options are shipped with the DB2 UDB Options for CICS and for IMS. You will find instructions for installing the Server Options in the Mainframe Connect Server Option for CICS Installation and Administration Guide, and the Mainframe Connect Server Option for IMS and MVS Installation and Administration Guide, which are also shipped with the DB2 UDB Options for CICS and for IMS.
This table shows tasks you perform using this guide and the Mainframe Connect Server Option for CICS Installation and Administration Guide.

The HTML documentation has been tested for compliance with U.S. government Section 508 Accessibility requirements. Documents that comply with Section 508 generally also meet non-U.S. accessibility guidelines, such as the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) guidelines for Web sites.
You might need to configure your accessibility tool for optimal use. Some screen readers pronounce text based on its case; for example, they pronounce ALL UPPERCASE TEXT as initials, and MixedCase Text as words. You might find it helpful to configure your tool to announce syntax conventions. Consult the documentation for your tool.
For information about how Sybase supports accessibility, see Sybase Accessibility. The Sybase Accessibility site includes links to information on Section 508 and W3C standards.
Each Sybase installation that has purchased a support contract has one or more designated people who are authorized to contact Sybase Technical Support. If you cannot resolve a problem using the manuals or online help, please have the designated person contact Sybase Technical Support or the Sybase subsidiary in your area.
