After installing the DB2 UDB Option for CICS, make sure the AMD2 transaction processor and the client and server connections are configured correctly.
You can verify connectivity using one of the standalone utilities, snaping or cicsping, which are shipped with the Server Option to test the network connections between the workstation and mainframe. Use snaping for the Server Option for SNA and cicsping for the Server Option for TCP/IP. These utilities do not require DirectConnect for z/OS Option to be active. If the ping utilities fail, the cause may be either a configuration error or a line outage problem. Based on the error message returned, you can narrow your search. Resolution may require coordination with the DirectConnect for z/OS Option Administrator to make changes to the configuration.
If the ping utilities run successfully, make sure your DirectConnect for z/OS Option Administrator has defined all the necessary RPC and connection information to DirectConnect for z/OS Option. Also, make sure that DirectConnect for z/OS Option is started.
