Choosing a Sybase Installation Directory

Consider where you want to install the Sybase software.

  1. If this is the first Sybase software you are installing on your computer, select a path for the release directory. The installation program performs these steps when it sets the default release directory:
    1. If the SYBASE variable exists, it sets the default release directory specified by the variable.
    2. If the SYBASE variable does not exist, but the Registry entry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Sybase\Setup\Sybase exists, it sets the default release directory to the directory specified by the Registry.
    3. If neither the SYBASE variable nor the Registry entry exists, the installation program creates the default release directory by concatenating the drive name of the system disk with \SYBASE. For example, if the system drive is C, then the default directory is C:\SYBASE.
  2. Record the Sybase release directory on your worksheet.
