To run Embedded SQL/COBOL applications, including the sample programs, you must:
Be able to access an Adaptive Server on which the pubs2 sample database is installed. Refer to the Adaptive Server Enterprise Installation Guide for information on installing the pubs2 database.
Set the following environment variables, which are described in Appendix B, “Environment Variables”:
SYBASE
SYBASE_OCS
COBDIR
PATH
SYBPLATFORM
Platform-specific library path variable
