The Client Option works in a two-tier, gateway-less environment.
A Client Option network configuration consists of:
A host-based client, which is a Client Option program running under CICS. The client program selects a server and sends requests to that server.
A server, which can be any server that Client Option applications can access, including servers on the LAN—Sybase Open Servers and Adaptive Servers—as well as Server Option running in a separate CICS region. If using TCP/IP, the Client Option may access servers running in the same CICS region.
For more information on using Client-Library functions, see the appropriate Mainframe Connect Client Option Programmers Reference. COBOL, PL/1, and C versions of this reference guide are available.
