Prevent data loss or data duplication if you make changes to the topology of a
multipath replication system.
Data loss or duplication may occur in a multipath replication system if you change the:
- Bindings of objects to paths
- Number of paths while the distribution model is distribution by
connection.
- Configuration of logical paths.
- Replication Server entries in the interfaces file in
UNIX or sql.ini in Windows.
Before you alter the topology:
- Use admin quiesce_check to quiesce all Replication
Servers that are a part of the current topogy.
- Use dbcc
settrunc(ltm, valid) to ensure that RepAgent starts reading
from the end of the primary database log. See Replication Server
Troubleshooting Guide > Adaptive Server Log Problems > Truncating an
Adaptive Server Log > Setting the Secondary Truncation Point.
