What a client installation does

A typical client installation installs the network client components into a parent directory on a client machine.

Parent installation directory

The parent directory contains the files, scripts, and other objects required to support the Sybase IQ client. This document uses the variable $SYBASE to refer to the client parent directory.

You must set the $SYBASE variable to a directory on the file system before you can start the installer. Setting this variable also determines the parent installation directory. You can, however, specify another target directory during the install if you use the interactive GUI installer, or by changing the silent installation script if you perform a silent install.

Sybase IQ installation directory

The Sybase IQ client installation directory, IQ-15_1, is a child of the $SYBASE parent directory.

This directory contains subdirectories, scripts, and property files required to run Sybase IQ client. This document uses the variable $IQDIR15 to refer to the Sybase IQ installation directory on the client.
