Connecting Using Open Client

Clients require a server object in the interfaces file to access server properties and methods. Use the SAP Sybase IQ Directory Services Editor (dsedit) to create the interfaces file entries.

Prerequisites
Task
  1. From a terminal or command line, change to $SYBASE/OCS-15_0/bin
  2. Start dsedit.
  3. On the Directory Service dialog, select a directory service to open (the interfaces file or interfaces driver is default), then click OK.
  4. From the Directory Service Session dialog, choose Add new server entry.
  5. On the Server Entry Editor, enter the server name, then click Add new network transport.
  6. On the Network Transport Editor, select TCP transport, enter the host name and port number, then click OK to return to the Server Entry Editor.
    The server is now listed under Available Network Transports.
  7. Click OK, then click Close Session on the Directory Service Session dialog.
  8. Click Exit on the Select a Directory Service dialog.
