Installing SAP Sybase IQ 16.0 SP03 on a Shared IQ and SCC Host

Some steps may differ for simplex and multiplex servers when installing SAP Sybase IQ 16.0 SP03. See the cover letter for release-specific instructions.

The SAP Sybase IQ 16.0 SP03 installer includes SAP Control Center 3.3. SAP Sybase IQ 16.0 SP03 is not compatible with previous versions of SCC. To administer an SAP Sybase IQ 16.0 SP03 database with SCC, you must install an SCC 3.3 server and an SCC 3.3 Agent.

The SAP Control Center Upgrade Database wizard lets you upgrade an SAP Sybase IQ 15.3 or 15.4 simplex or multiplex database to SAP Sybase IQ 16.0 SP03. The Upgrade Database wizard does not currently support the upgrade of an earlier 16.0 version to 16.0 SP03.

To use the Upgrade Database wizard, you must have both the 15.x and 16.0 SP03 versions of the SAP Sybase IQ server software installed on the same machine. Once the database upgrade is complete, uninstall the earlier version of the SAP Sybase IQ server software.

  1. Use the appropriate utility to extract the SAP Sybase IQ 16.0 SP03 archive to a directory on the file system.
  2. For:
    Server Action

    Simplex

    Shut down the server.

    Multiplex

    Shut down all multiplex nodes.

  3. For:
    Configuration Action
    SCC and SAP Sybase IQ servers reside on the same host. Shut down the SCC 3.2 server.
    SAP Sybase IQ is managed by a remote SCC server. Shut down the SCC 3.2 agent.
  4. If you do not plan to use the Upgrade Database Wizard to upgrade your 15.3 or 15.4 database, uninstall the current SAP Sybase IQ server.
  5. Install SAP Sybase IQ 16.0 SP03.
    • If SAP Sybase IQ 15.x is still installed, specify a different path. Do not overwrite the existing version.
    • On multiplex servers, update the software on the each node separately.
  6. In a terminal, change to $IQDIR16/bin64.
  7. Check the server version string:
    start_iq -v2

    Verify that the results match the version string in the cover letter.

  8. Restart the server or multiplex.
  9. Copy the saved SCC csi_config.xml file into the $SYBASE/SCC-3_3/conf directory, overwriting the existing file.
  10. Copy the saved SCC repository files into the $SYBASE/SCC-3_3/services/Repository directory, overwriting the existing files.
  11. Copy the service-config.xml file saved from the original SccSADataserver location to the corresponding new $SYBASE/SCC-3_3/services/SccSADataserver/ location, overwriting the existing copy.
  12. Copy the service-config.xml file saved from the original EmbeddedWebContainer location to the corresponding new $SYBASE/SCC-3_3/services/EmbeddedWebContainer/ location, overwriting the existing copy.
  13. For:
    Configuration Action
    SCC and SAP Sybase IQ servers reside on the same host. Start the SCC 3.3 server.
    SAP Sybase IQ is managed by a remote SCC server. Start the SCC 3.3 agent.
