It is common practice for ODBC applications to send only a data source name to ODBC. The ODBC driver manager and ODBC driver locate the data source, which contains the remainder of the connection parameters. In SAP Sybase IQ, Embedded SQL applications can also use ODBC data sources to store connection parameters.
