Post Installation

When you have successfully installed SAP Sybase Event Stream Processor, complete post-installation tasks as necessary for the components you want to use.

The post-installation tasks provided here are not mandatory to run ESP itself, but they do influence whether specific features are available in your implementation or not.

• Linking to Your ODBC Driver Manager Library
  To successfully use an ODBC driver manager library on UNIX systems, link to your ODBC driver manager library and include this link in LD_LIBRARY_PATH for the ESP Server.
• Configuring a Pluggable Authentication Module (PAM)
  If you selected the Native OS authentication option during installation, perform additional configuration to allow login using accounts on the host system.
• Updating Environment Variables
  Create and update environment variables by sourcing the SYBASE.csh, SYBASE.sh, or SYBASE.env file.
• Enabling SAP BI Authentication
  If you wish to enable SAP BI as the authentication provider for Event Stream Processor, you need to copy some files from SBOP PI 4.1 to ESP.
• Installing the SDK on Other Machines
  Set up an external machine so that you can link and compile clients that will use the SDK to communicate with a server running ESP.
• Installing the Adapter Toolkit on Other Machines
  SAP Sybase Event Stream Processor provides an adapter toolkit you can use to build custom adapters. You can install the adapter toolkit to other machines where you can develop and test your custom adapters.
• Starting a Node or Cluster
  Start a cluster by starting its nodes. This step is optional for post installation.
• Starting Sybase Control Center
  Sybase Control Center (SCC) is a Web-based tool for managing and monitoring SAP servers, including SAP Sybase Event Stream Processor servers. SCC includes a server component with management UI and an SCC agent.
