Apple Push Notification Service (APNS) allows users to receive notifications on iPhones. APNS:
- Works only with iPhone physical devices
- Is not required for any iOS application
- Cannot be used on an iPhone simulator
- Cannot be used with iPod touch or iPad devices
- Must be set up and configured by an administrator on the server
- Must be enabled by the user on the device
