Follow this sequence for shutting down, upgrading, and restarting cluster components.
- Shut down all Sybase-related processes on cluster nodes in this
sequence:
- Secondary Unwired Servers – shut down these
services in this order:
- Sybase Unwired
Server
- Sybase Control Center X.X
- Sybase Unwired SampleDB (not applicable
to Enterprise Server
Edition)
- Primary Unwired Servers – shut down these
services in this order:
- Sybase Unwired
Server
- Sybase Control Center X.X
- Sybase Unwired SampleDB (not applicable
to Enterprise Server
Edition)
- On the active data tier server, launch the Microsoft Cluster Administrator and take the
following active resources offline for this node:
- Advantage Cluster Service
- AFDB Cluster Service
- CDB Cluster Service
- Other services specified by your Microsoft Cluster administrator
All other resources must remain online and accessible. If a resource other than
those listed above becomes unavailable, the data tier upgrade fails.
- Upgrade the active data tier.
- Validate the upgrade on the data tier node by bringing the stopped Microsoft Cluster
resources online and confirming that they are restarted.
- Upgrade the passive node.
- Launch Microsoft Cluster Administrator.
- Failover the active node to the passive node. The passive node is now
active.
- Repeat steps 2-4.
- With all data tiers started, upgrade Unwired Platform on the remaining server nodes in this sequence:
- Primary
node.
Note: Do
not begin upgrading any secondary servers until the primary server has
completely finished restarting all its services after being upgraded.
- Secondary nodes.
Note: Ensure that the user credentials used to perform the upgrade on the Unwired
Server nodes has the same permissions to read/write to the shared data path of
the data tier node.
- Restart all Unwired Servers, beginning with the primary server.
