Drag and drop controls, or widgets, from the Palette to the screen design.
Controls are objects on the screen that describe what to do upon execution of an action, for example, what to do in response to a mouse click, double-click, menu selection, button selection, and so on. Supported controls are determined by the selected device. Not all controls are supported on all devices, so the controls you see on the Screen Design Palette vary according to the selected device.
Some controls do not do anything unless you explicitly assign an action to them, for example, buttons, hyperlinks, and menus.
Option | Description | Supported device platform |
---|---|---|
Navigation bar | Create a header on the screen. |
Label | Display text. |
Edit box | Enter a line of text and assign values to strings, dates, decimals, integers, and so on. |
Choice | Display a collection of items as a drop-down list. |
Hyperlink | Display a label that is underlined like a link and that can be attached to an action for screen transitions. |
Checkbox | Assign or display boolean values. |
Radio button | Assign predefined options. |
List item | Similar to buttons, list items are grouped in the List Group container and can have styles and actions assigned to them. |
Button | Trigger actions such as screen transitions. |
Image | You can place an image into the display as widgets (button, list item, and so on). There are two types of images—one type uses the image references to display the image, the other type uses table context variables that are of image types. You can also assign actions to images. |
Spacer | Create a defined space on the screen. This allows for vertical spanning as well as horizontal spanning. |
Separator | Visually isolate parts of the screen. |
Grid table | Add to the screen display or tab panel container. Used to display multiple data columns. |
List detail | Show property details for columns. |
Toolbar item | Add toolbar items to the toolbar container. Actions can be assigned to toolbar items. An image must be assigned to the toolbar item control. If you do not assign an image to toolbar items, a warning message is shown when you verify or generate the device application code. |
