Assigning logical types to the screen controls and mobile business object attributes allows the Device Application Designer to know how to map screen fields to device applications correctly. Logical types are divided into these categories:
- General – contains general types that are not used by any PIM applications, such as e-mail, phone, URL, and image.
- Calendar – contains types used by the calendar, such as start date, end date and so on.
- Address Book – contains types relevant to a contact, for example, first name, last name, and address.
- Task – contains types of a task, for example, priority, due date and so on.
- Memo – contains types of a memo, such as title and note.
