Configuring a Backup Server

Configure a backup server for an entire cluster or multiple backup servers to run on a per-instance basis.

Prerequisites
The agent must be authenticated in order to configure a backup server.
Task

  1. In the left pane of the Administration Console, expand ASE Servers > Cluster Management > Auxiliary Servers.
  2. Select Backup Servers.
  3. Click the drop-down arrow, then select Configure Backup Server.
    You see the Configure Backup Server wizard.
  4. Select the cluster for which to configure a backup server.
  5. Specify the type of configuration:
    • Configure a backup server for the entire cluster.

      The Specify Properties screen shows a default backup server name, error log path, and port number. Optionally adjust any of these values for your configuration environment.

    • Configure multiple backup servers, that run on a per-instance basis.

      When configuring a backup server on a per-instance basis:

    1. Choose either a dedicated server policy or a round-robin policy for the global server configuration.
    2. (Optional) Select Enable global high availability mode for backup servers configured on a per-instance basis.
    3. The Specify Properties screen shows a default error log path and port number for each instance. Optionally adjust either of these values for your configuration environment.
  6. (Optional) Click Summary to review your information.
