Learn how to upgrade the old server interactively.

Start sybcluster. Enter:
sybcluster -U uafadmin -P -F "node_name:port_number"

Start the upgrade. Enter:
upgrade server server_name

Respond to the upgrade server prompts.
Default values are displayed in square brackets. The prompts are:

Enter the name of the cluster. [ server_name ]

Enter the existing Sybase installation directory for
server server_name using the complete
path to the Sybase installation directory. For example, enter “/myserver/sybase15”.

Enter the name of the subdirectory containing the ASE
installation for server server_name.
For example, enter “ASE-15_0”.

Enter the name of the subdirectory containing the OCS
installation for server server_name.
For example, enter “OCS-15_0”.

Enter the name of an sa login on server server_name.
-
Enter the password for the sa login.
-
Enter the maximum number of instances. [4]
-
How many nodes (hardware hosts) will participate in
this cluster. [1]

Enter the number representing the cluster node 1. [1]

Enter the full path to the quorum disk.

Enter any traceflags.
-
Enter the full path to the existing master device.
-
Does this cluster have a secondary network. [Y]

Enter the port number from which this range will be
applied. [15100]

Enter the SYBASE home directory. [Your
default location.]

Enter the environment shell script path. [Your
default location.]

Enter the ASE home directory. [Your
default location.]

Enter the interfaces directory. [Your default
location.]

Enter path to the dataserver configuration file. [Your

Enter the name of the first instance in this cluster:
Note: Create a cluster with a single instance; add instances
later on using the add instance command.

Enter the interface file query port number for instance_name.

Enter the local system temporary database device name.

Enter the local system temporary database device path.

Enter local system temporary database device size (MB).[100]

Enter the local system temporary database name,
for example, [cluster_name_tdb_1 ]

Enter the local system temporary database size
(MB).[100]

If you enter “Y”, sybcluster upgrades
the server, displaying informational messages as the process proceeds.
