This section describes how to stop the server on Microsoft Windows in instances where the server is running as a Microsoft Windows service, and in instances where it is not.
If the server is running as a Microsoft Windows service, you may use the usual Microsoft Windows mechanisms for stopping a service.
If the server is not running as a service, stop the server by pressing ctrl-C in the command window where the server is running. There is no API or other programmatic mechanism for stopping the server on Microsoft Windows.
