Sybase CEP's RPC feature enables CCL statements to execute a function or procedure that is running outside the Sybase CEP Server process, either on the same computer as Sybase CEP Server, or on a different computer.
Note: This guide uses the term RPC to refer both to procedures (which do not return a value) and to functions (which return one or more values).
RPCs vs. UDFs
An overview of UDF and RPC features, and in what scenarios they work best.
What Is a Remote Procedure Call?
RPCs are similar to User-Defined Functions (UDFs). Both UDFs and RPCs enable you to extend Sybase CEP Server by writing custom code. A UDF runs as part of the server process, while an RPC runs as part of a separate process.
