Integrating Replication with Adaptive Server

Perform these steps to integrate Sybase Control Center for Replication with Sybase Control Center for Adaptive Server.

These integration steps are required only for an Adaptive Server participating as a data source in a replication environment, which means that the Adaptive Server has a configured RepAgent thread.

  1. Add servers to the Resource Explorer.
  2. Add the servers to the Perspective Resources.
  3. Add the appropriate monitoring role to the current login for each server.
  4. Authenticate the Adaptive Servers.
  5. Authenticate the Replication Servers.
  6. Create and schedule the collection jobs for all servers.
  7. Display the dashboards.
If the associated Replication Server is authenticated first, then an Adaptive Server is authenticated, this exception error appears:

[ASEMAP:][ERROR] [btpool1-3] Exception invoking method getRelatedManagedObjects javax.management.RuntimeOperationsException: Exception invoking method getRelatedManagedObjects.

If you continue and schedule the collections for all servers, no error appears while the collections are running. But when you launch the Adaptive Server Monitoring view, you see:

The ASEMO does not contain all the child MO(s).

When you click OK, the Adaptive Server Monitoring view appears, but no data is displayed on the RepAgent Thread dashboard.

To fix this problem, use the Resource Explorer to unregister the Replication Server and Adaptive Server involved. Reregister both resources, then follow the integration steps to authenticate them.

Note: When you unregister these resources, they are removed from all perspectives, the collection jobs that have been created are deleted, and you cannot access any previously gathered statistics after you reregister the servers.

You can also use this solution if you have been monitoring a Replication Server, then decide to add an Adaptive Server with a configured RepAgent thread, which is part of the replication environment.
