Guidelines for ensuring that Sybase Control Center installs and performs at a satisfactory level.
Performance may be affected if you do not follow these configuration and usage guidelines. For example, you may get pop-up errors in the UI and collections may fail.
Installation:
- The Sybase Control Center server machine must have at least two 2.4GHz processors and 4GB of RAM.
- On UNIX or Linux, install Sybase Control Center in a new directory.
- On Windows, install Sybase Control Center on a machine with no other Sybase products. See Installation Restrictions in the Installation Guide.
Implementation:
- Monitored Resources – For each Sybase Control Center server, monitor no more than 15 resources. To monitor more than 15 resources, distribute the resources over several Sybase Control Center servers, with each Sybase Control Center server on a separate machine.
- Collection Jobs – Set the collection interval to 180 seconds, stagger collection jobs, and set only one collection for each collection type for each managed resource. See Creating a Data Collection Job in the online help.
- Users – Have no more than four users logged in to Sybase Control Center at the same time. See About Sybase Control Center in the Installation Guide.
- Repository – Ensure that you do not turn purge off. Purge is turned on by default and set to one day. See Configuring Repository Purging in the online help.
Note: The detailed information for these topics appears in the related sections of the Installation Guide and online help.
