A UNIX service is a daemon process that starts automatically after the
machine is started and runs in the background. In UNIX installations, a shell script,
agentd, is
available in
$SYBASE/SCC-3_1/bin.
Use
agentd to configure the Sybase Control Center service. (Some UNIX platforms supply tools that make service configuration easier; Linux
chkconfig is an example.)
Note: Sybase recommends that if you are not familiar with the process of setting up services in UNIX, you delegate this task to a system administrator or consult the system administration documentation for your UNIX platform.
