Starting and Stopping Sybase Control Center in Windows

There are several ways to start and stop the Sybase Unified Agent, which starts and stops Sybase Control Center. You can also set the agent service to start automatically and to restart in case of failure. Start the agent manually only if the agent does not start automatically.

You can start and stop Sybase Control Center using the uafstartup.bat and uafshutdown.bat scripts; using the Services list under the Windows Control Panel, where you can also configure SCC to start and restart automatically; or with the net start and net stop commands. Use the Control Panel Services list or the net start command to run Sybase Control Center as a service. When you use uafstartup.bat, you are running the agent manually and cannot take advantage of the automatic start and restart features available to services.

Start Sybase Control Center:
1. (Recommended) Change to the installation directory, %SYBASE%, and run SYBASE.bat.
2. Enter:

%SYBASE_UA%\bin\uafstartup.bat
 
```
Stop Sybase Control Center:
1. (Recommended) Change to the installation directory, %SYBASE%, and run SYBASE.bat.
2. Enter:
```
%SYBASE_UA%\bin\uafshutdown.bat
```
Start or stop from the Windows Control Panel; configure automatic start and restart:
1. Open the Windows Control Panel.
2. Select Administrative Tools > Services .
3. Locate Sybase Unified Agent. If the service is running, the status column displays “Started.”
4. To start or stop the agent, right-click the agent and choose Start or Stop.
5. Double-click the service.
6. To set the service to automatically start when the system starts, change the Startup type to Automatic.
7. To restart the service in case of failover, choose the Recovery tab and change the First, Second, and Subsequent failures to Restart Service. Click Apply to save the modifications before closing the dialog.

Start or stop from the command line:

To start Sybase Control Center, enter, at a Windows command prompt:

net start "sybase unified agent"

The Sybase Unified Agent service is starting......
The Sybase Unified Agent service was started successfully.

To stop Sybase Control Center, enter:

net stop "sybase unified agent"

The Sybase Unified Agent service is stopping.....
The Sybase Unified Agent service was stopped successfully.
