Before you upgrade your Afaria components, back up your Afaria system and then follow the instructions in the Installing Afaria guide.
Sybase Unwired Platform 1.2 requires Afaria 6.0.
If you installed Afaria 5.5 as part of Sybase Unwired Platform 1.0, complete these tasks before upgrading to Sybase Unwired Platform 1.2:
- Save all important Afaria 5.5 data before upgrading. See Installing Afaria > Preparing to Upgrade Afaria for data migration considerations.

Uninstall Sybase Unwired Platform 1.0.
- After installing Sybase Unwired Platform 1.2, reimport Afaria data.
If you are an existing Afaria customer who is installing Sybase Unwired Platform for the first time, complete these tasks before installing Sybase Unwired Platform:
- Save all important Afaria data. See Installing Afaria > Preparing to Upgrade Afaria for upgrade and data migration considerations.
- Upgrade to Afaria 6.0 and reimport Afaria data.
- Install Afaria 6.0 Hot Fix 23.
