Lesson 2: Monitoring your read-only scale-out system from Sybase Central

In this lesson, you start Sybase Central, connect to your database, scaleoutdemo.db, and learn how to monitor your read-only scale-out system from Sybase Central.

 Monitor your read-only scale-out system from Sybase Central

  1. Start Sybase Central. Click Start » Programs » SQL Anywhere 12 » Administration Tools » Sybase Central.

  2. Click Connections » Connect with SQL Anywhere 12.

  3. Connect to your database, scaleoutdemo.db, using the Connect window:

    1. In the User ID field, type DBA.

    2. In the Password field, type sql.

    3. In the Server Name field, type scaleout_root_demo.

    4. Click Connect.

  4. Click the Overview tab in the main window to monitor the database scaleoutdemo.db.

  5. Click the Database Mirroring And Scale-out dropdown list to view the scale-out system's primary server name, as well as information about the scale-out system's copy nodes.

  6. Shut down Sybase Central.

    1. Press F12 to disconnect Sybase Central from the database.

    2. Click File » Exit.

  7. Proceed to Lesson 3: Monitoring your read-only scale-out system from the SQL Anywhere Monitor.
