Primary data server

A primary data server is a server that manages one or more primary databases, which are the sources of the data-changing operations or transactions in a replication system.

Non-Sybase primary data servers are supported by Replication Agents, which access replication data in the primary database by logging in to the data server as a database user or by reading the data server’s transaction log.
