Client applications send requests to DirectConnect (or to other servers for forwarding to DirectConnect). Client requests can be sent through ODBC, DB-Library™, CT-Library™, or Open Client™ applications, such as isql, Data Workbench®, APT Workbench™, and front-end products from independent software vendors.
DirectConnect provides the link between the DB2 UDB Option for CICS and the clients. Therefore, after the DB2 UDB Option for CICS is installed and configured, the clients do not need to consider communication issues with the DB2 UDB Option for CICS.
