DirectConnect has created utilities that will allow
you to create and start a DirectConnect server. Refer to Appendix B, “Using DirectConnect Utilities.”
Sybase provides scripts to set the following variables, which DirectConnect requires in order to run:
SYBASE
SYBASE_ECON
SYBASE_OCS
SHLIB_PATH (HP-UX), LIB_PATH (AIX), LD_LIBRARY_PATH (Sun Solaris)
Set the environment variables from a command line prompt by running one of the following environment scripts, as appropriate for your platform:
DC_SYBASE.csh or DC_SYBASE.sh
To verify that the environment script ran successfully, execute the following:
echo $SYBASE
The response should match the directory for your installation.
echo $SYBASE_ECON
The response should match the $SYBASE_ECON home directory on your worksheet: DC-12_6.
echo $SYBASE_OCS
The response should match the $SYBASE_OCS home directory on your worksheet:
For HP:
echo $SHLIB_PATH
For AIX:
echo $LIB_PATH
For Solaris:
echo $LD_LIBRARY_PATH
This variable (shown for HP) should equal the following: $SYBASE/$SYBASE_ECON/lib: $SYBASE/$SYBASE_OCS/lib
$SYBASE, $SYBASE_ECON,
and $SYBASE_OCS will be expanded
to their actual values.
