Unlike previous versions of DirectConnect for Oracle, version 12.6 is already linked with the Oracle libraries. Therefore, it does not require any Oracle software on the machine where it is installed. However, there must be a tnsnames.ora file accessible to DirectConnect for Oracle.
The tnsnames.ora file is an Oracle connectivity file for all Oracle version 9.0.1 products. You can obtain it from the Oracle administrator for the database that you are connecting to. This file needs to be copied to a temporary location, so that it is available if you want to configure at installation time.
