The DirectConnect scripts (DCStart, AddServer, DCDirector, DC_SYBASE) generated during installation have been simplified and improved. The scripts no longer rely on global shell environment variables; instead, they set environment variables based on the installation-generated file, DC_SYBASE.
WARNING! The DirectConnect scripts use the DC_SYBASE.csh or DC_SYBASE.sh script—not the SYBASE script.
The scripts and installation program have been changed to prevent environment variable overruns or truncation (CR 325317). Sybase strongly recommends that you use the scripts for DirectConnect operations to ensure a proper operating environment.Future versions of DirectConnect Installation programs will not set global environment variables, and will require the use of supplied DirectConnect scripts for starting DirectConnect and DCDirector.
