Moving Open Client/Server applications to version 12.5.1

The Adaptive Server Edition Software Developer Kit (SDK) is shipped as part of Adaptive Server version 12.5.1. The 12.5.1 SDK point product is scheduled for release before the end of 2003. It contains new features and bug fixes not included in the Adaptive Server Edition of SDK. In addition, the Adaptive Server Edition does not contain fixes to known bugs since SDK 12.5 ESD #10.

Below is a list of features and major bug fixes that will be included in the SDK 12.5.1 point product, but not in the Adaptive Server Edition of SDK.

The following table lists features not available for the 12.5.1 SDK.

If your application is likely to experience any of the CRs listed above, or requires one of the new features listed in the first table, Sybase advises you to wait for the release of the 12.5.1 SDK point product. In the meantime, you may continue to run your 12.5 Open Client/Server applications from your existing Adaptive Server version 12.5 install location against the newer Adaptive Server 12.5.1 installation.

If the CRs listed above are not likely to adversely impact your applications, you may upgrade your Open Client applications to version 12.5.1. However, Sybase strongly recommends that you install the 12.5.1 SDK point product release as soon as it is available.
