What you need to know

Message format

The messages in this chapter are listed in ascending order by message number. The message number format consists of the prefix “LEX,” followed by a numeric message identifier and a message level.

Message text

The message text that follows the message number is in uppercase text. After each message is an explanation and, if appropriate, a suggested action to take.

Variables within messages

Message variables appear in lowercase italic text. Actual values replace the variables when the message displays.

For example, in the following message, “A bad switch value of switch_value,” the variable is represented by switch_value.
