The variable page size feature enhances the functionality and usability of Adaptive Server, but does not provide an upgrade path for existing customers. Users who need to change the page size of an existing Adaptive Server must build a new server with the intended page size and migrate the data from the source Adaptive Server to the target Adaptive Server. Since dump and load mechanisms are not supported across different page sizes, the only option available is to use ddlgen or a similar means to generate schema, and then use bcp to extract the data from the source Adaptive Server and to load it into the target Adaptive Server. This technique is complex and difficult to manage.
